Iraq’s President: Iran Has Repeatedly Emphasized It Is Absolutely Not Pursuing Nuclear Weapons
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid told France 24: “We hope that attacks on Iran’s facilities by the United States or Israel will not be repeated. The Iranian side has repeatedly stressed that it is absolutely not seeking nuclear weapons.”
Regarding regional developments, he said: “The tragic situation in Gaza, marked by the bloodshed of children and innocents and the lack of food and medicine, cannot continue indefinitely.”
Rashid stated: “Everyone in the region is concerned about Israeli aggression. The frist step toward achieving peace and stability is to stop the attacks.”
On American troops, he noted: “The presence or withdrawal of U.S. forces in Iraq depends on agreements between Baghdad and Washington. We have reached a stage where there is no longer a need for multinational or American forces to remain long-term. The timing of their departure depends on both sides.”
He added: “ISIS was decisively defeated, and all Iraqi borders are under control. We monitor any terrorist movements in the region. We aim to close al-Hol camp because it poses a threat along border areas affecting Syria, Iraq, and even Turkey. Regarding Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), I must say they are part of Iraq’s security forces formed specifically to combat ISIS and terrorism.”
