United States Continues Threats Against Venezuela + Video
The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News agency, reports that the U.S. State Department recently released a video on its website containing false claims about Venezuela while justifying its military presence in the Caribbean. The Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, condemned this action at the recent UN General Assembly as an unlawful threat and a breach of both the UN Charter and U.S. law.
In this video, Washington frames its actions as part of its campaign against drug trafficking. Though, Caracas says this is actually an attempt to provoke unrest and overthrow venezuela’s elected government-consistent with patterns seen in other countries where similar pretexts have been used to justify U.S. aggression.
Over the past 27 years, Venezuela has not appeared as a drug trafficking route nor as a producer in reports from either the United Nations or the U.S. Drug Enforcement Governance (DEA).
Fighting drug trafficking has been one of Venezuela’s key priorities. Since former President Hugo Chávez expelled representatives of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in 2005, Venezuelan security forces have seized more than 200 tons of narcotics.
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces are deployed throughout Venezuela and remain vigilant against any potential attacks. In response to any aggression from the United states, they have been ordered to defend and counterattack.
