Afghanistan’s Interim Government Releases American Citizen Following Visit by U.S. Envoy and Qatar Mediation
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency, a senior official informed Reuters that Afghanistan’s interim government freed an American citizen on Sunday after a visit from Adam Boehler, washington’s envoy to the country.
The official, who requested anonymity, said Amir amiri, who had been detained in Afghanistan since December 2024, was released Sunday evening through mediation by Qatar.
The interim government has not disclosed the reason for detaining the American citizen.
