Hamas: No External Actor Has the Right to Determine Palestinians’ Destiny
According to webangah News Agency’s English section, quoting Mehr News Agency, Hussam Badran, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, told Al Jazeera that they have not received any official proposals from Qatari or Egyptian mediators so far.
Badran added,”Our principles in negotiations are clear. We have no special demands; our goal is aligned with the interests of the people in Gaza.”
The Hamas official stated that their demands are fully coordinated and consulted with Palestinian resistance groups, all of whom call for an end to the war.
Addressing Tony Blair’s involvement, he questioned, “Under what authority does Tony Blair govern Gaza when he is an unacceptable figure unwanted by the Palestinian people?” He stressed that Gaza’s future after the war is a domestic matter and no external actor has the right to decide on Palestinians’ fate.
Earlier today, U.S. President Donald Trump told Reuters he received very positive responses from Israel and Arab leaders regarding his proposed peace plan for Gaza.
He said, “Everyone wants to finalize a Gaza agreement, and we hope to complete it during tomorrow’s meeting with Netanyahu.”
previously on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “With all parties united on something specific, there is a real opportunity for Middle East greatness.”
Following last week’s meeting with leaders from some Arab and Islamic countries on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, Trump unveiled his 21-point plan for Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also spoke earlier today in an interview with Fox News about Trump’s 21-point proposal. “We are currently working with President Trump’s team on this agreement. We hope to advance it,” he said.
The Hamas movement recently issued a statement responding to media reports about Trump’s new plan calling for establishing international governance over gaza. The statement affirmed that Hamas has not received any new proposal from its brotherly mediators.
The group further stressed that negotiations have been suspended as an unsuccessful assassination attempt against Hamas leaders in doha on May 9.
Hamas also declared its readiness to review any proposals they receive from mediators with utmost optimism and responsibility while ensuring preservation of Palestinians’ national rights.
