New York Times Reports on US’s New Phase to Oust Maduro

The New York Times, citing U.S.officials, reports that efforts by ‍senior⁢ White House advisors too remove Venezuela’s president from power have intensified in recent ‍days.

The English section of webangah News Agency quoted ‌Mehr News ⁣Agency in reporting that the ‍New York Times revealed an escalation ‍in efforts⁤ by senior advisers ‍to President Donald Trump aimed at ousting⁤ Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.U.S.‌ officials are reportedly consulting on a series of operations ⁢designed to increase⁢ military pressure with the goal⁣ of removing Maduro from power.

According⁣ to the‍ New York Times, U.S. Secretary ⁣of State Marco Rubio and the ​White House National‍ Security Advisor are leading these efforts.Rubio has described Maduro as “an illegitimate‌ leader overseeing drug trafficking into the United ⁣States,”⁤ calling ⁣him an “imminent threat.”

In recent weeks,⁢ the U.S. military has‌ launched deadly attacks against civilian boats⁤ alleged to be working with Venezuelan drug trafficking networks.

Officials⁢ say Rubio is now ‌shaping a more aggressive strategy ⁤using intelligence from the Central Intelligence ⁣Agency (CIA). ⁣The Pentagon has deployed over 6,500 troops in the Caribbean ‌region.

The ⁣New York⁢ Times cited officials who added that CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Trump’s⁣ senior domestic policy adviser Stephen Miller both support Rubio’s approach.

Current and former U.S. officials indicate‌ that as a next step, the military is planning potential operations inside Venezuela targeting suspected drug traffickers; however, this stage has ‍not yet been approved by the‍ White House.

These operations aim‌ to disrupt drug production and​ trafficking within Venezuela while tightening pressure on Maduro’s⁣ regime.
