Lebanese President Hastily Welcomes Trump’s Ceasefire Plan

lebanese⁣ President welcomes Donald ⁢Trump’s plan ‍to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the ‌English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Nashra via Mehr News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to halt ⁣the conflict in ⁢Gaza.

Aoun also ‌praised what‍ he called the “efforts of the ‍U.S. president to end the suffering of civilians and innocents in the Gaza Strip, prevent further bloodshed, and foster joint cooperation toward establishing‌ a stable‍ and prosperous Middle East based on principles of human⁤ justice and dignity.”

He expressed hope that this plan woudl soon ⁢gain approval from ‌all involved parties, welcoming what he described as “a realistic approach to addressing contentious and problematic issues”‌ within this matter.

this⁤ swift‌ endorsement⁣ by ⁣some⁢ Arab regimes comes despite the plan neglecting even minimal achievements for the people of Gaza. It relies solely on hollow promises without enforceable guarantees concerning Gaza’s reconstruction and humanitarian aid access.

The Lebanese president appeared to⁤ overlook that donald Trump, as‍ one of‌ the ⁣main members⁤ of Lebanon’s ceasefire monitoring ⁢committee, has consistently failed to fulfill his responsibilities in stopping exchanges of fire in Lebanon. He has not prevented ‍repeated Israeli violations against the ceasefire⁣ and⁣ shows no concern over Israel’s ongoing occupation of strategic areas within Lebanon-contradicting his own assurances.

Beyond guarantees and deadlines related to⁢ freeing Israeli prisoners, disarming resistance groups, and destroying their tunnels,Trump’s plan offers no clear solutions or timelines for⁣ rebuilding Gaza or securing Palestinian prisoner releases and humanitarian aid entry into the region.
