Colombian President: Trump Complicit in Gaza Genocide
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestinian Information Center, Colombian President Gustavo Petro held U.S. president Donald Trump responsible for the Israeli regime’s attacks in Gaza and called him an accomplice in genocide.
Speaking at Casa de Nariño Palace in Bogotá, Petro stated: “If the current situation continues as complicity with genocide, the only place Mr. Trump deserves is prison.”
He also called for the arrest of benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, during his visit to the United States based on an international warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, israel’s former defense minister, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine.
Petro added: “The United States practically ignores international law. The Rome Statute defines which acts constitute crimes against humanity or war crimes. Any citizen tried by these courts can be arrested by any country they pass through regardless of nationality; thus, Netanyahu can be arrested while in America.”
The Colombian president further announced that Colombia will review its free trade agreement with the United States and cancel its free trade agreement with Israel.
Petro once again emphasized the need to form a joint military force to liberate Palestine and declared: “The United Nations cannot kneel before a state complicit in genocide. So let us act-and then we will see if we stand alone or not.”
last Wednesday at a UN General Assembly meeting, he also urged an alliance of armies from countries opposing genocide in Gaza to work toward Palestine’s liberation.
