Photo Sparks Debate: Did Netanyahu Apologize to Qatar’s Prime Minister from a Script?
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, reported that India Today highlighted pictures shared online showing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu adn U.S. President Donald Trump in the Oval office. The images depict Netanyahu engaged in a phone call. Media outlets claimed that Netanyahu was apologizing to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar’s prime minister, over Tel Aviv’s recent attack on Hamas officials’ residences in Doha.
India today pointed to one photo where Netanyahu is seen holding a text while speaking on the phone and asked: Was Netanyahu reading an apology script aloud? This question became viral after a black-and-white photo released by the White House showed Trump holding a telephone receiver while Israel’s prime minister appeared to read from paper.
The report continues: The image was taken on Monday in the Oval Office and seemingly captured Netanyahu’s call with Qatar’s prime minister. According to officials, this call was arranged by Trump during his meeting with Netanyahu, during which Israel’s leader reportedly apologized for ordering an attack targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.
According to this source, Trump initially claimed he had no knowlege of the attack but appeared angry at what he described as Netanyahu’s unilateral move. In their tense phone conversation, Trump called the strike “unwise” and warned it would destabilize fragile regional diplomacy. Qatar-playing a key mediating role in Gaza ceasefire negotiations-condemned the attack as ”timid” and a clear violation of international law. Afterward, Netanyahu accepted full obligation for Israel’s action against Doha.
India today added that amid these developments, Trump used Netanyahu’s Washington visit as an opportunity to arrange a tripartite call aimed at de-escalating tensions. Reportedly, “Bibi expressed deep regret over September 9th’s attack directed at Qatar’s prime minister,” also acknowledging sovereignty violations and pledging not to repeat such strikes.
India Today noted: “Whether these words were spoken directly by netanyahu or dictated by White House aides remains debated. Interestingly, ‘Trump-a staunch ally of Netanyahu-placed him in what seemed like dictated circumstances.’ with his head bowed low under Trump’s piercing gaze, it truly seems Netanyahu read his words aloud while being closely observed by America’s president during this exhibition.” For Trump-the picture portraying him sitting with receiver resting on his lap while seeing stooped Netanyahu intently reading notes-is clear evidence of master-subordinate dynamics rarely visible publicly.”
