Colombian President Cancels Free Trade Agreement with Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Lebanon 24, Colombian President gustavo Petro stated, “I announce the termination of the free trade agreement with Israel, and israeli diplomatic staff must instantly leave Colombian territory.”
He added that Israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had committed a new international crime.
Petro noted that two Colombian citizens aboard the Freedom Flotilla in international waters had been detained.
The president’s remarks came hours after Israel seized several ships from the Freedom Fleet and arrested multiple activists.
Prior to this, President Petro had warned against any potential attack on the flotilla heading to Gaza, calling it a “clear violation of international law and a crime against humanity.”
Highlighting that this humanitarian fleet ”has entered an extremely dangerous area,” he said drone activity was increasing and unidentified vessels were appearing on radar.
All passengers wore life jackets and remained on high alert for any possible attacks.
Petro emphasized that respect must be given to the lives and dignity of over 500 civilians and volunteers participating in this mission.
He also reminded that two Colombian nationals-Manuela Pedioya and Luna Barito-were among those onboard this fleet.
