Five U.S. Military Aircraft Approach Venezuela’s Coastline
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Times of India, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino announced on Thursday that at least five American warplanes approached Venezuela’s coastline.
In a televised address, he stated that the country’s air defense and monitoring systems at its largest airport detected more than five warplanes attempting to get close to Venezuela’s shoreline.
The defense minister described the incident as a “major threat” and condemned it.
Padrino’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between the two countries following a series of deadly US attacks on vessels in Venezuelan waters.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro recently declared a state of emergency in response to what Caracas calls escalating US hostile actions against Venezuela.
Earlier on Tuesday, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez announced that Maduro had signed an order giving him authority to take defensive measures concerning national security if any potential US attack occurs against “our homeland.”
