Deadly Storm “Bualoi” Claims 51 Lives in Vietnam
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, Vietnam’s Disaster Management Authority and Dam and Flood Control Systems announced today (Friday) that Typhoon Bualoi has so far caused 51 fatalities.
the agency emphasized that Bualoi triggered floods and landslides across several regions, resulting in widespread damage.
The report added that 14 people remain missing due to storm-related incidents, while 164 others have been injured. Initial economic losses are estimated at nearly 15.9 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately 608 million US dollars).
More than 238,000 residential units have been destroyed or submerged by floodwaters. The typhoon also flooded nearly 89,000 hectares of rice paddies and other farmland, damaged over 17,000 hectares of aquaculture farms, and caused losses to about 50,300 hectares of forest.
According to the report, Bualoi severely damaged infrastructure as well. Over 8,800 electricity poles were toppled nationwide. Approximately 468,500 households remain without power, while around 1,500 schools have sustained damage.
