Naim Qassem: Trump’s Gaza Plan is an Israeli Scheme Wrapped in American Disguise
sheikh Naeem Qassem, Secretary General of Hezbollah Lebanon, marked the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Sheikh Nabil Qaouk and Sayyed Suhail al-Husseini, two prominent figures in Lebanon’s Islamic resistance. Speaking at the commemoration, he said: “We honor the first anniversary of these jihadist leaders. we will recall their sacrifices before addressing regional and domestic political developments.”
He added that Martyr Sheikh Qaouk fulfilled his role by actively participating in confronting the imposed war against the Islamic Republic of iran. “When enemies target Iran, Islamic resistance, truth, and Palestine,” he stated, “they pursue a single objective. Thus, everyone present in the region must bear responsibility according to their capability.”
Qassem noted that from 2018 until his death, Sheikh Qaouk was responsible for preventive security within Hezbollah. He explained how Sheikh Qaouk transitioned from being Deputy Chairman of Hezbollah’s Executive Council to heading preventive security-a move made at the request of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to which Sheikh Qaouk complied without hesitation.
<p"Sheikh Qaouk paid special attention to fighters both in southern Lebanon and later when he returned to Beirut," Qassem said. "He regularly visited Syria where he met closely with fighters." Despite his duties,Sheikh Qaouk continued religious teaching and scholarly debates with other clerics. He authored works on biography (sirat), ethics (akhlaq), and beliefs (aqidah). An exemplar imbued with awareness and faith, he recited three parts (juz') of the Quran daily.
Twelve scholars were martyred during the First Battle of Al-Bass-their sacrifice reflecting how religious figures form an inseparable part of political, military jihadist actions within their community,” Qassem emphasized.
Regarding Martyr Suhail al-Husseini-Qassem recalled that Husseini fought alongside Haj Imad Mughniyeh from early on; Mughniyeh deeply trusted him especially regarding jihadist security affairs. in 1991 Husseini assumed responsibility for Beirut’s regional security before leading anti-espionage efforts until 2000.
“In 2008 he left staff duties to become deputy to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah himself.” Qassem added: “Husseini showed great dedication toward prisoner affairs; many regarded him as a mentor culturally and pedagogically.” nasrallah assigned him oversight for economic-social issues through initiatives supporting local communities.
This martyr preferred anonymity-working quietly away from public acclaim-as a model embodiment of self-sacrifice layered with patience and resilience,” Qassem remarked.
The Hezbollah leader then criticized Israel’s pursuit toward Greater Israel supported fully by America: ”Every step they take is part of this larger scheme.” According to him any withdrawal Israel claims is merely tactical-to exploit positions for opposed objectives.
“What we witnessed over two years in Gaza forms an integral component within this Greater israel project,” Qassem asserted. “Everything across this region is interconnected; hence all must confront this threat fairly because no country can claim exemption today:
If not Gaza now then elsewhere soon based on Israeli design.”
Addressing Trump’s Gaza plan directly:
“The plan teems with risks,” said Naeem Qassem.
“It was presented initially to some Arab countries but after modifications during Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu aligned completely with Israeli demands-with certain clauses altered.”
“This plan seeks politically what military assault failed at achieving by implementing Greater Israel under American guise,” he elaborated.
“We face numerous question marks around it-Arab officials themselves expressed surprise demanding clarifications.” The Trump initiative echoes five Israeli conditions aimed at ending Gaza hostilities - thus making it essentially an Israeli blueprint wrapped as an American proposal.”
Qassem discussed four reasons why Trump introduced this plan now: Firstly-to overcome global condemnation directed at Israel amid rising protests spanning major countries including UN entities plus widespread grassroots movements across US & Europe.
“The scheme attempts rehabilitation or softening Israel’s image worldwide.”
