Western-Backed Protesters Storm Georgian President’s Residence + Video

Western-oriented protesters in Georgia demonstrated toward‍ the presidential palace‌ and breached⁢ iron‍ barriers to enter the grounds of their ⁣president’s residence.

According to the English section ‍of webangah news Agency,citing Sputnik via⁢ Mehr News Agency,western-aligned opposition protests in Georgia turned violent on Saturday. In Tbilisi, the capital, protesters attempted to storm⁢ the ​presidential residence by‍ crossing iron barricades.

A television report added that ‍police ​used pepper spray‍ to disperse the crowd.

Earlier on election day, opposition demonstrators marched in Tbilisi, calling ‍it a “peaceful revolution” during local government (municipal) elections.

The TASS news agency reported ⁢that protesters threw stones at the⁢ presidential palace and hurled incendiary devices at ‍police forces in Tbilisi.

The Georgian Ministry of Internal affairs declared that the gathering had ​”exceeded legal limits.”

Protesters entered the premises of Georgia’s ​presidential residence​ and attempted to seize control there.

Sputnik noted that ‌additional special forces units were deployed near the presidential​ palace ​after⁣ demonstrators ‍breached metal barriers.

The security forces used ⁢water cannons against protesters close ⁤to the palace grounds.

A RIA Novosti⁤ correspondent reported that a group called ​”European-Georgian Boys” continued throwing stones at⁣ Georgia’s presidential residence⁤ despite warnings from ​special forces.

Carrying European Union ⁣flags, protesters sought entry into the⁣ presidential building ⁤while security personnel tried to maintain order and enforce laws.

According to Russia​ Today news agency, ⁤masked ⁤rioters waving EU and Ukrainian flags set fire ​to chairs and tables near Tbilisi’s presidential palace.

EU-supporting rioters set streets​ ablaze as ‍riot police ⁤surrounded⁤ them in central‍ Tbilisi.

The security⁤ barriers ⁢around Tbilisi’s presidential palace ‍were torn apart following attempts by pro-European ‌Union insurgents to storm them. ⁢
