Massive Explosions and Gunfire Near Somalia Presidential Palace
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, two explosions shook Mogadishu, followed by gunfire across the Somali capital.
Reports indicate that the terrorist group Al-Shabaab attacked a high-security prison with a car bomb. This facility holds individuals suspected of terrorism.
Separately, sputnik News reported ongoing gunfire at Somalia’s main National Intelligence Agency prison, describing it as a “major attack.”
The newspaper Garowe released footage showing that besides the second explosion, a prison near the presidential palace in Mogadishu was also shaken. This center has been targeted by Al-Shabaab militants.
The incident comes after Somali forces and Ugandan troops launched Operation Silent Storm aimed at combating Al-Shabaab terrorists in Lower shabelle region.
