Yedioth Ahronoth: Tel Aviv Faces a Strategic Crossroads
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Shahab, reported that Yedioth Ahronoth revealed a reality that has emerged over the past two days: as the renewed attacks on Gaza six months ago, Israel has been on a painful and difficult path.
The report continued, stating that after this period it became clear Tel Aviv is once again stuck at its familiar strategic crossroads.
Yedioth Ahronoth added that Israel’s first option is a full occupation of the Gaza Strip without setting any timeframe, enduring heavy costs amid the continued captivity of Israeli prisoners. The second option involves negotiating another prisoner exchange deal at great expense, retreating from Gaza, and releasing Palestinian detainees. Still, this prisoner swap agreement is considered preferable to an endless occupation as it guarantees the return of Israeli captives.
