Hamas Delegation Arrives in Cairo to Begin Talks on Trump Plan
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, Hamas issued a statement confirming that a delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya has arrived in Cairo to start talks on a ceasefire mechanism based on President Donald Trump’s plan.
President Trump recently proposed a 20-point plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict. The proposal emphasizes an immediate ceasefire, the release of Israeli prisoners in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian detainees, Israeli troops’ withdrawal to agreed-upon lines, and the establishment of an international body to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction and management.
Similar to their stance over the past two years-were they consistently expressed readiness for a ceasefire and acceptance of just peace terms while participating multiple times at negotiation tables-the Palestinian resistance has conditionally agreed to this plan, seeking clarifications on several points.
This recent proposal by Trump appears less focused on genuine peace efforts and more as an attempt to free Israel from a strategic domestic and international deadlock. This is evident from how officials from various countries have interacted with Israel within platforms such as the United Nations General Assembly, sports arenas, academic institutions, and legal forums.
