Patriot Missiles Sent to Ukraine Prove Ineffective Against Russian Ballistic Threats
The English section of webangah News Agency cites Mehr News Agency and TASS in reporting that the Patriot surface-to-air missile systems provided by the United States to Ukraine have shown weak performance against Russian ballistic missile attacks.
According to the newspaper, the Patriot system is currently the only missile defense system available to Ukrainian forces capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles. However, it stressed that even this system has failed to intercept several recent attacks. Part of this failure is attributed to Russian experts updating their weapons specifically to bypass these defense systems.
The Washington Post also noted that a Patriot battery was recently delivered to Ukraine from Israel, with partners expected to send additional units this fall. Nonetheless, the newspaper emphasized that establishing even a temporary air shield over Ukraine would likely require dozens of similar systems.
