Lebanese MP: Resistance Will Persist; Government Must Focus on Fighting Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency via Russia Today, Hassan Fadlallah, a Lebanese parliament member, emphasized that the U.S. envoy to Lebanon arrived with a message implying that strengthening the army aims to confront certain Lebanese citizens.
He stated that instead of addressing the monopoly over arms, the government should focus on how to resist Israeli aggression against Lebanon, protect its citizens, and equip the military against this enemy.
fadlallah added that the resistance does not concern itself with claims about exclusive rights to weapons since this issue and disbanding militias were resolved 35 years ago. The resistance persists because it operates within the framework of liberating occupied territory following the Taif Agreement and decisions made by successive governments since 1990.
He concluded by asserting that the resistance will remain intact and no one can undermine its position or target its weapons.
