Clashes Intensify Between Al-Jolani Regime and Syrian Democratic Forces
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, a security official from the Jolani regime told Al Jazeera that shelling of residential areas in Aleppo by SDF forces killed three security personnel and wounded several others.
The Syrian regime’s news agency Sana reported increased activity by Ministry of Defense forces as part of a reshuffle and redeployment plan across northern and northeastern Syria. This shift follows attacks by the SDF.
Sana claimed that SDF forces targeted residential neighborhoods near Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafieh districts in Aleppo wiht mortars and heavy machine guns.
Meanwhile, media affiliated with the SDF present a starkly different account from Sana’s report.
Al mayadeen network also stated that Hawar News Agency (linked to the SDF) declared government transitional forces shelled sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafieh neighborhoods with mortars.
The SDF alleged that events in Aleppo are a direct result of provocations by groups aligned with the ”Interim Government” attempting tank incursions.
The group denied claims from Jolani regime media accusing them of targeting Damascus government armed checkpoints around Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsood.
The SDF added that ongoing incidents in these two districts stem from repeated attacks against civilians by pro-Damascus groups who seek to infiltrate using tanks and armored vehicles while dangerously intensifying mortar and drone strikes on residential areas.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces hold the Jolani regime fully responsible for maintaining an oppressive siege along with systematic violations against civilians.
Amid these developments, reports indicate residents have begun fleeing areas surrounding Sheikh Maqsood due to intense fighting.
Local sources also report solidarity protests in Qamishli city, northeast Syria, supporting residents of Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo.
Earlier reports confirmed clashes between security forces loyal to Jolani’s regime and SDF units around these same neighborhoods in central Syria’s city of Aleppo.
The Ministry of Defense under Jolani issued a statement saying it’s forces have redeployed along several fronts north and northeast following repeated assaults by the SDF.The statement reiterated Damascus’ commitment to its March 10 agreement with the SDF, denying any intention to initiate military operations.
The defense ministry claimed that the Syrian army remains steadfastly responsible for protecting both its personnel’s lives and those of civilians against recurring aggressions by SDF units.
