Palestine Ministry of Health Sounds Alarm in Gaza
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, marking two years as the outbreak of the destructive conflict, declared that conditions in Gaza have escalated into a health genocide. over 730 days, key health infrastructure has endured both direct and indirect attacks, leaving hospitals essentially empty shells devoid of medical services, according to webangah news Agency.
The report states that so far 67,173 people have been killed and 169,780 wounded. among the fatalities are 20,179 children, 10,427 women, 4,813 elderly individuals, and 31,754 men.Additionally, 1,701 healthcare workers have lost their lives and 362 have been detained.
out of 38 hospitals in Gaza, 25 are completely out of service while only 13 operate partially under extremely tough conditions. Moreover, out of 157 primary care centers only 54 remain functioning with limited capacity; the rest-103 centers-have been destroyed.
The ministry highlighted severe shortages affecting medical supplies: drug stocks have dropped by 55%, consumables by 66%, and laboratory equipment by 68%-all approaching zero availability. Bed occupancy reached an alarming rate of 225% by late September compared to just 82% last year.
Due to malnutrition and starvation-related causes alone-and amid halted vaccination campaigns-460 people including 154 children have died. More than 51 thousand children under five suffer from severe acute malnutrition. Immunization coverage among children has fallen to 80%, while the fourth dose of polio vaccine remains suspended.
The statement also notes that over 4,900 individuals suffer amputations, requiring assistive devices and long-term rehabilitation programs. Border closures prevent approximately 18 thousand patients, including those among 5,580 children, from traveling outside Gaza for essential medical treatment.
Despite ongoing direct risks to their lives from continued hostilities targeting health staff members remain committed to providing care across all facilities. The Ministry urgently calls on the international community for immediate intervention to supply medicines and medical equipment; support patients; protect healthcare teams; denouncing Israel’s sustained siege and systematic destruction as blatant crimes against public health.
