Fawzi Barhoum: Our Priority Is to Stop the War
According to webangah news Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Fawzi Barhoum, a leader in Hamas’s Islamic Resistance Movement, said: “Our priority is the immediate cessation of Zionist aggression and the genocidal war against Gaza. We reaffirm our commitment to all inalienable Palestinian national rights and defending our people’s cause. Despite displacement, starvation, and killings inflicted by the occupiers, they have failed-whether through force or alternative institutions-to free their prisoners. Nearly 95 percent of victims in this war are defenseless civilians. Eighty Palestinian prisoners have been martyred under torture in Israeli jails. Popular support for resistance forms an unbreakable rock that has shattered occupiers’ plans.”
He added: “The ‘Al-Aqsa storm’ operation was a historic response to plots aimed at erasing the Palestinian issue. It was not merely a battle to expose occupiers as hollow; it marked a turning point that revealed their true nature and isolated them internationally. ‘Al-Aqsa Storm’ initiated a genuine countdown toward ending occupation across Palestine’s land-an extension of Palestinian resistance since 1948. The battle proved that occupiers threaten regional and global security and stability. It awakened consciences worldwide to stand with our people and self-reliant statehood. The occupiers’ strategies demonstrated this war is not just against resistance but against Palestinian existence itself. Their expansionist intentions harm Arab and Islamic lands significantly now exposed by this conflict.”
Barhoum stressed: “The Netanyahu cabinet and U.S. government bear legal responsibility for these war crimes.”
He continued: “Hamas has approached all ceasefire proposals over the past two years with utmost responsibility. Our delegation in Cairo works tirelessly to remove obstacles toward achieving an agreement meeting our nation’s demands. We seek an accord ensuring ceasefire, full withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza, along with unhindered humanitarian aid access.”
“We demand an agreement guaranteeing aid delivery and refugees’ right to return home,” he said further.”We want immediate reconstruction under supervision by a technocratic Palestinian institution and also fair prisoner exchanges secured within any deal reached.” He warned: “We caution against netanyahu’s attempts sabotaging current talks as done previously.”
Barhoum affirmed confidence in his people’s ability “to thwart every plan devised to erase Palestine’s cause.” He described the occupiers’ atrocities as ongoing war crimes that time will never erase.
“We appreciate all honorable efforts supporting our people’s resistance,” he added.
“We commend efforts by Iran’s Islamic Republic, Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, Lebanon’s Islamic Resistance,” Barhoum stated.
“We also specially recognize mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.”
“We send greetings to ‘The Steadfastness Fleet’ convoys-they have received our message,” he concluded.
the hamas leader called on all Arab & Islamic countries “to activate every form of sanction imposed on Israel.” He urged Palestinian factions “to unite around resistance options.” He affirmed: “Our people’s right is authentic – enduring – to live on their land free from siege, killing or domination.” He emphasized establishing an independent State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital is now closer than ever before.
