Khalil al-Hayya: We Are Fully Prepared to Halt the War
Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas’s negotiating delegation, told webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen, that they arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh for responsible and serious talks aimed at stopping the war against their people in the Gaza Strip.
He added that they pursue their people’s goals and aspirations for achieving stability, establishing a government, and the right to self-determination.
The Hamas leader emphasized their full readiness to responsibly cease hostilities but noted that “the enemy continues killing and destroying us.”
Indirect negotiations between Hamas and the Israeli regime began on Monday evening in Sharm El-Sheikh to discuss former U.S. President Trump’s ceasefire plan regarding Gaza.
the talks aim to explore frameworks for preparing preliminary conditions toward a prisoner exchange agreement.
Israeli media had earlier reported that Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, would attend the talks in Sharm El-Sheikh. However, Netanyahu’s office stated these negotiations would initially occur at a routine level before senior officials join if progress is made.
The discussions started amid sharp disagreements over issues including Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories, resistance weapons, and Gaza’s governance after the war.
