Lavrov: Iran Has Consistently Supported Negotiations; Western Maneuvers in the Region
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing TASS via Mehr news Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the West of strategies aimed at maintaining cautious attitudes among Arab Gulf countries toward Iran.
In an interview about the ”Bridges to the East” initiative, Lavrov said, “Many want to preserve the cautious stance of Arab gulf countries regarding Iran. These are Western games.”
Lavrov added,”The British have always been known for their ‘divide and rule’ approach. Unluckily, some of our Western colleagues still operate under colonial and neocolonial habits.”
He further stated that Tehran is interested in resuming talks on its nuclear program.
When asked if renewed negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program are possible, Lavrov emphasized that “Iran is interested.”
Lavrov noted that since January, Iran has consistently supported negotiations and demonstrated flexible and creative approaches.
Citing RIA Novosti, the Russian official added that the West is making every effort to prevent nuclear talks involving the U.S. and hinder normal cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He suggested these actions deliberately provoke a major conflict. He also described Western attempts to reinstate sanctions on Iran-framing them as legal measures-as entirely unjustified.
