Israel Hayom Reports: Key Palestinian Prisoners to Be Freed in Exchange
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Nadav Shragai, an Israeli analyst and writer, said that while the deal with Hamas might be an “unavoidable evil,” Israel has no right to claim a “complete victory.”
In an article for the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, he wrote, “What happened is not a victory but rather paying ransom to terrorists and surrendering to their demands!”
Shragai highlighted that several well-known Palestinian prisoners will be freed in this exchange. He specifically mentioned Abbas al-Sayed, who was sentenced to 35 life terms after killing 30 Israelis and injuring 160 in anti-Israeli operations.Hassan Salameh is another individual set for release; he received 46 life sentences for killing dozens of Israelis.
The analyst added that symbolic figures like Marwan Barghouti-serving five life sentences-and Ahmad Saadat, considered the mastermind behind the assassination of Israeli minister rehavam Ze’evi, will also be freed in this swap.
He concluded by describing this moment as one of “bitter joy” for Israeli captives but together a dangerous and strategic error that sacrifices IsraelS future security.
