Hamdan: We Will Never Accept Foreign Patronage; Time to Establish the State of Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas leader, told Al Jazeera Mubasher: “We agreed in Sharm El-Sheikh that the war is over and 600 trucks carrying humanitarian aid will enter Gaza daily. Mediators will announce a complete ceasefire today after coordination with the occupiers, and these trucks will begin arriving from tomorrow. The coming days will be a real test for the Zionists.”
He added, “The ball is now in the court of the Israeli cabinet, which must accept this agreement. We emphasize that there will be no forced displacement or expulsion of Palestinians from their land. Occupiers who violate the ceasefire agreement will face international consequences. Governance in Gaza will remain under Palestinian groups.”
Hamdan stated, “According to this deal, Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences or long terms. the Gaza institution responsible for distributing humanitarian aid had functioned as a trap leading to bloody massacres of hundreds of Palestinians; it was agreed that this obligation would be transferred exclusively to international agencies. The credibility of the US government is on trial since Netanyahu’s cabinet guaranteed adherence to the ceasefire. the Israeli army is weakened and cannot launch another attack on Gaza. During negotiations we managed to revise maps and expand areas for Israeli troop withdrawal.”
“Movement by Palestinians in territories vacated by occupiers will be unrestricted,” he said. “If Israel believed it could advance militarily on land, it would never have accepted this agreement. No Palestinian accepts disarming; our people need arms and resistance more than ever before. We categorically reject external tutelage. The era of occupation must end-now is time for establishing Palestine.”
