Tensions Escalate Between Afghanistan and Pakistan as Islamabad Accused of Attacking Kabul
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, the Afghan government reported that Pakistan breached its airspace, bombed a market, and launched an attack on Kabul.
The Afghan government issued a statement warning that if the Pakistani military escalates tensions further, it will bear responsibility for the consequences.
It also strongly condemned Pakistan’s violation of Afghanistan’s airspace and affirmed its right to defend its territory.
Afghan sources reported hearing two loud explosions in Kabul late last night.
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the Pakistani airstrikes on Kabul as well as Paktika, Khost, and Nangarhar provinces. He described them as clear violations of international law, Afghanistan’s sovereignty, and acts of aggression against Afghan territory.
In response to last night’s explosions in Kabul and several other locations in Afghanistan, a spokesperson for the Pakistani military neither confirmed nor denied involvement but urged Kabul to take action against terrorist elements.
