European Troika to Hold Talks with Iran and the United States
The leaders of the UK, France, and Germany declared their intention to negotiate with Tehran and Washington to secure an agreement ensuring that Iran will not possess nuclear weapons, according to webangah News Agency.
They reiterated their position supporting the activation of the snapback mechanism against Iran.
French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK prime Minister Keir Starmer claimed without acknowledging their failure to uphold commitments under the JCPOA that Iran’s nuclear program poses a serious threat to global peace and security.
They also called on all United Nations member states to comply with reimposed sanctions on Iran.
These statements from Europe’s three nations-widely regarded as lacking independent decision-making and closely aligned with US policy-come while Iranian officials consistently emphasize that Tehran has never pursued nuclear weapons and that such arms have no place in its defensive doctrine.
