Israeli Settlers Attack Olive Farmers in the West Bank
according to teh English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Israeli settlers attacked olive farmers in several areas of the West Bank on Saturday.
The legal organization Bader issued a statement saying, “A group of Israeli settlers assaulted farmers while they were harvesting their crops this morning in the areas of al-Zawiya and Rafat, west of Salfit city in northern west Bank. Several farmers were injured during these attacks.”
Bader added that the settlers “damaged local residents’ vehicles and fired directly at them.”
Settlers also targeted olive farm owners in Burqa, east of Ramallah. They opened fire on them and forced them to leave the area while seizing their equipment and tools.
Typically, settler violence increases during this period with the start of the olive harvesting season.
This comes as olives remain a primary crop for manny Palestinians, with a important portion depending on it for their livelihood.
Palestinians believe that the Israeli military and settlers carry out these attacks to expand jewish settlements by violating West Bank residents’ rights, destroying their property, and forcing them to relocate.
