Saudi Arabia Urges Pakistan and Afghanistan to Prevent Escalation of Tensions
according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency via Sputnik, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing concern over rising tensions and clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The ministry urged both sides to demonstrate restraint and refrain from escalating conflicts.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of dialog and prudence in reducing tensions to maintain security and stability in the region.
The ministry also affirmed it’s commitment to preserving stability and prosperity for the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan, declaring its support for all regional and international efforts aimed at strengthening peace.
An hour earlier, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense announced that its military operations included strikes against locations used as launch points for drones targeting Afghan territory or violating its airspace.
The statement detailed that afghan forces bombarded military positions across the border frequently used to attack civilians and undermine Afghanistan’s territorial integrity.
The Ministry added that alongside attacks on Pakistani military sites, some locations linked to ISIS within Pakistani territory were also targeted.
The ministry stressed that these military operations will continue until violations of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity wholly cease.
