Qatar Responds to Incident Involving Its Delegation in Egypt
The Qatari embassy in cairo expressed deep regret over the deaths of three individuals associated with Qatar’s court, following a traffic accident in Egypt, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Arabiya.
The embassy also confirmed that the bodies of the three deceased, along with those injured, will be transferred to Doha today.
An Egyptian source earlier attributed the accident to excessive speed.
Al-Qahira Al-Akhbariya network reported that three Qatari diplomats traveling as part of their country’s political delegation en route to Sharm El-sheikh for a Gaza-related meeting lost their lives in this traffic collision.
According to the report, a mechanical failure occurred in the vehicle’s steering system while it was moving. The car carried five Qataris and one Egyptian driver at the time of the accident.
The victims were identified as Hassan Jaber Al-Jaber,Abdullah Ghanem Al-Khayarin,and Saud bin Thamer Al-Thani. All had roles within Qatar’s royal court and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The remaining passengers are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital.
The incident took place on an international route in South Sinai. Meanwhile, informed sources told Russia Today that those involved were security personnel and officials responsible for protocol arrangements during emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s participation at the sharm El-Sheikh summit.
