Katz: Army Ready to Destroy Gaza Tunnels After Prisoner Release
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Russia al-Youm, Israel Katz, Israel’s Minister of Defense, has instructed the army to be ready to disarm Hamas and destroy tunnels in the Gaza Strip once Israeli prisoners are freed.
Katz claimed on X that their greatest challenge after freeing the captives is the immediate destruction of all Hamas tunnels in Gaza.
He asserted that demolishing these tunnels is part of an agreement to disarm Hamas and eliminate its capabilities.
The defense minister also said these goals will be achieved through an international mechanism supervised by the United States.
Katz added, “I have ordered the Israeli military to prepare for this mission as part of disarming Hamas.”
This comes after mousa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau outside Gaza, stated that disarming Hamas was not included in Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.
Abu marzouk told Russia al-Youm: “Netanyahu failed to disarm Hamas, free prisoners, or destroy Hamas.”
He also accused Western countries of supporting Israel against Hamas and emphasized that there is no guarantee warfare will not resume.
