Hamas Insists on Release of High-Profile Prisoners
A source familiar with the Gaza ceasefire negotiations reported Hamas’s insistence on the release of prominent prisoners such as Marwan Barghouti.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, a source involved in the Gaza ceasefire talks said Hamas has taken preliminary steps to hand over live Israeli captives.
The source stated that Hamas insists on the release of seven Palestinian leaders in the upcoming exchange operation.
Hamas specifically seeks to include Marwan Barghouti,Ahmed Saadat,Ibrahim Hamed,Abbas al-Sayyid,among others.
Simultaneously occurring, Israeli media reported that thousands of its soldiers have withdrawn from Gaza as the ceasefire came into effect.
