Thousands March in Australia to Support Palestine
According to a correspondent for Mehr, citing Anadolu News Agency, thousands rallied across 27 Australian cities, including Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, after the ceasefire was declared in Gaza to show solidarity with Palestine.
Protesters carried signs bearing slogans such as “Israel, get out of Gaza and the West Bank,” “Boycott Israel,” and “Stop funding genocide.”
Lydia Thorpe, an independent Indigenous Australian politician, commented on the situation: “How can we say there is a ceasefire while genocide continues? A ceasefire means an end to deaths. Yet as we speak about a ceasefire, innocent people in Palestine are still being bombed. Therefore, until Palestinians determine their own fate and take responsibility for their lives themselves, there is no real ceasefire.”
