Macron: US Plan for Gaza Governance Remains Unclear
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Al Jazeera via Mehr News agency, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France will accelerate humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza and coordinate with Israel and the United States on this issue.
He added that humanitarian aid entry into the Gaza Strip must be expedited starting tomorrow.
The French president noted uncertainty in the US plan for administering gaza and said technical work on methods for disarming Hamas will begin tomorrow.
Macron also emphasized efforts to deploy United Nations forces in Gaza and assist in training Palestinian security personnel to maintain internal security.
He described former President Trump’s visit to the Israeli Knesset as very significant.
Macron explained that while the US plan calls for deploying a 500-strong force in Gaza, they may require up to 1,000 troops.
He expressed gratitude toward Egyptian President abdel Fattah el-Sisi and former US President Trump for hosting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Sharm El-Sheikh summit, emphasizing their desire for Abbas’s continued partnership going forward.
The French president stressed that Gaza requires daily delivery of 1,000 trucks of aid-not just 500-and asserted that impunity must not continue. He also called for journalists to be allowed back into Gaza to resume their work.
