Nobel Prize Controversy Reaches Egypt; Trump Snaps at Norwegian Delegate
Trump’s jibe at the Norwegian delegate during the sharm el-Sheikh summit reveals his lingering resentment over missing out on the Nobel Peace Prize, reaching even to Egypt.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rosia Al-Youm via Mehr News Agency, after the Nobel Peace Prize Committee overlooked Donald Trump, then US president, and awarded it rather to a Venezuelan opposition figure, Trump made a sarcastic remark about the norwegian delegate’s absence during the Sharm el-Sheikh summit.
In his speech at the summit, he said: “We have Norway. My God, my god Norway! What happened with Norway? Where is their representative? He is standing way back there.”
The US president had vigorously sought to secure the Nobel peace Prize by portraying himself as a peacemaker. Though, the prize was granted to a disruptive figure aligned with Washington.
