The English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Quds, reported that members of the elite 101st unit of the Al-Qassam brigades gathered after 33 years. Among them was Mahmoud Mousa Issa, one of the founding figures of the armed resistance core, who was released yesterday during a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel.
Mahmoud Mousa Issa, also known as Abu al-Baraa, alongside Majid Qateesh, Mousa al-Akkari, and Mahmoud Atoun are among the oldest fighters in the Al-Qassam Brigades. They helped establish the armed resistance cell responsible for capturing an Israeli officer to pressure tel aviv into releasing Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, founder of Hamas. Abu al-Baraa was one of the key prisoners freed yesterday.
Yesterday’s exchange saw nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners released from Israeli captivity in return for 20 Israeli captives.
Israeli analysts have described this ceasefire agreement in Gaza as another defeat for prime Minister Netanyahu.
