House Speaker: Democrats Must End Government Shutdown
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, James Michael Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, made statements on Tuesday without addressing extensive crimes committed by Israeli occupiers against defenseless people in Gaza. He deceptively claimed, “President Trump has reached an agreement on Gaza! No one deserves a Nobel Prize more than President Trump!”
Referring to the prolonged government shutdown in the U.S. caused by disagreements between parties over the budget, Johnson said: “Democrats have a chance to change their position and end the government shutdown. Democrats want to legalize undocumented immigrants and overturn all reforms made by Republicans.”
johnson added: ”The Democrats who delayed the budget bill want $25 billion of taxpayers’ money allocated for international projects. We want to keep the government running and review the budget bill for approval.”
The ongoing U.S. government shutdown has led to financial hardship for many federal employees and military personnel, causing some free food distribution centers across America to see a 30 percent increase in visitors.
The U.S. government shut down on October 1 due to political disputes between Republicans and democrats in Congress and has now been closed for nearly two weeks. Democrats are demanding guarantees regarding health insurance subsidies, while Republican lawmakers and the White House accuse opponents of inciting undocumented immigrants.
The stalled negotiations have prompted threats from President Donald Trump and Republican leaders that back pay may not be issued to approximately 75,000 federal employees owed wages. The shutdown is also affecting other aspects of daily life such as air travel,national parks,and supplemental nutrition programs for women,infants,and children (WIC).
