Israeli Analyst Admits Tel Aviv’s Repeated Failures in Gaza War
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Palestinian news agency Shehab via mehr News Agency,Michael Milstein, head of the palestine department at the israeli Moshe Dayan Center for Middle East Studies, stated that Israel’s experience in Gaza using militias and criminal gangs against Hamas has failed just as previous attempts did-such as those involving Antoine Lahad’s army in Lebanon and rural associations in the 1980s.
The senior Israeli analyst added that this failed approach to managing conflict with Hamas must be included among cases subjected to official investigative committees.
He noted that Israel’s reliance on these groups to counter Hamas demonstrates Tel Aviv’s inability to grasp reality and its failure to learn from past experiences.
The former officer of the military intelligence branch went on to say that Tel Aviv committed a series of errors during its war management. The most prominent missteps were establishing a “Migration Encouragement Committee” and launching the “Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF)” aid distribution project-both resulting in billions of shekels wasted without tangible outcomes.
Milstein emphasized that using criminal gangs in Gaza has become a nightmare for Israel. Protecting these groups without collapsing ceasefire efforts is impractical. Moreover, prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks about arming these gangs have further undermined their fragile standing since they are composed mainly of socially marginalized factions within Gaza.
