New Wave of Clashes Between Afghanistan and Pakistan: Taliban Report 12 Civilian Deaths
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr news Agency and Reuters, the Taliban announced that more than 12 Afghan civilians lost their lives in fresh fighting that erupted today between Afghan and Pakistani forces.
The recent tensions between the two neighbors escalated after Islamabad urged the Taliban to take action against militants who have increased attacks in Pakistan and, according to Islamabad, operate from hiding places within Afghan territory.
The Taliban deny the presence of militants or members of the terrorist group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Afghan soil.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed on social media platform X that early this morning Pakistani forces launched attacks resulting in over 12 civilian deaths and more than 100 injuries.
He further asserted that Afghan forces killed “a large number of Pakistani soldiers,” seized their bases and military camps, confiscated weapons and tanks, and destroyed most of their military facilities.
Pakistani officials blamed the Taliban for recent clashes and reported four Pakistani civilians were also killed during these incidents.
A regional official from Chaman in Pakistan’s Balochistan province stated that “taliban forces attacked a post near Chaman. The battle lasted about five hours before Pakistani troops repelled the assault.”
