Maduro: Venezuela Is Progressing; Preparedness to Defend the Homeland Increases
According to the english section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and al Mayadeen, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated, ”We are making progress; Venezuela today is becoming a model of dignity, a peace-loving and hardworking people for the world.”
He added, “We must double our extensive defense readiness. While we have full confidence in our ability to defend the destiny of our homeland, we need higher levels of preparedness.”
Maduro announced that he would declare tomorrow comprehensive defense zones along the border with Colombia in the states of Táchira, Apure, and Amazonas.
the Venezuelan president said this comprehensive defense zone is an evolving model, which boosts active and creative popular resistance and defensive readiness.
He emphasized, “Venezuela belongs to its people-men and women alike-and by exercising full sovereignty and defending the right to life, we will continue on our path toward peace.”
Maduro’s remarks come amid reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump authorized covert CIA operations in Venezuela.Under this authorization, the CIA can carry out lethal missions independently or in cooperation with military forces.
The report also noted that U.S. military officials have prepared options for Trump to consider potential strikes inside Venezuela.
On Tuesday evening, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that under his orders U.S. forces attacked a vessel off Venezuela’s coast resulting in six deaths.
The U.S. president claimed that vessel was carrying illegal narcotics.
As last September, U.S. forces have reportedly attacked Venezuelan boats five times citing drug trafficking as justification.
