Afghanistan: Pakistan Has Violated the Ceasefire

The Afghan Interim‌ Government has accused Pakistan of violating the⁣ ceasefire⁤ and warned that Islamabad will bear all consequences of this action.

The English section of webangah News ⁣Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, reported that a spokesperson for the Afghan Interim‌ Government claimed Pakistan breached ⁣the ceasefire by launching mortar attacks on Afghan territory.

The senior Taliban official told Al Jazeera, “We urge Pakistan to adhere to the ceasefire; otherwise, it will ​be responsible for its consequences.”

Agence France-Presse cited a medical source confirming that before the ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan was established, 40 civilians were killed in cross-border clashes between the two countries.

In another development,⁢ an ⁤Afghan security source told Al Jazeera about⁢ the ‌release of five pakistani prisoners who had⁢ been captured during yesterday’s border fighting.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with ⁣Afghanistan’s Interim Government ‌for a temporary 48-hour ceasefire.
