Pakistan Foreign Ministry Statement at End of 48-Hour Ceasefire with Afghanistan
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement today, Friday, expressing concern over Taliban attacks on Pakistani territory.
the statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said: “Rather of making accusations, the Taliban must honour their commitments not to allow use of their soil for terrorist attacks against other countries. Our forces repelled attacks along the border with Afghanistan and inflicted heavy losses on Pakistani Taliban and their allied terrorist groups.”
The ministry added that in responding to these attacks by the Pakistani Taliban militants, they exercised maximum caution to prevent civilian casualties. the assaults by these militants aim to destabilize the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan and undermine the spirit of good neighborly relations between the two countries.
Islamabad further emphasized that both Pakistani and Afghan sides made every effort during the temporary ceasefire period to achieve a constructive resolution through dialogue. ”We believe in diplomacy and continue to monitor the situation closely. We will do everything necessary to protect our country,” it concluded.
