Israel Intensifies Attacks on Southern Lebanon

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Al-Nashra, ‍Israeli‍ drone strikes recently targeted the ⁤town of Kharbet Silm in the ⁤Tablah region.

Simultaneously occurring,Al-Nashra’s correspondent in southern Lebanon reported⁣ that Israeli forces fired shots from the Metulla position toward the outskirts of Kafarkila village.

Earlier this morning,Al Mayadeen reported a large explosion carried⁣ out by Israeli military forces in⁣ Yaroun town,where they detonated a house.

Prior ‍to these incidents, heavy attacks had been ⁤launched by Israel ⁢against Lebanon. The Israeli army claimed it targeted‌ Hezbollah infrastructure.

In today’s series ⁣of attacks, one person was killed in‍ Shmishtar near Baalbek. additionally, one was injured in ⁣bnaful near Sidon ‍and six others were wounded in Ansar area of Nabatieh.

In this context, a diplomatic source told Al Jazeera that the UN Security ⁤Council has adopted a statement supporting​ Lebanon’s government commitment to assert sovereignty over its territory.

The⁤ source added that the statement urges ⁣the international community to back the Lebanese Armed Forces⁤ to ensure stability​ south of the Litani River.

It noted‌ that while reaffirming support for UNIFIL without naming Israel as violator of the ceasefire‍ agreement, the Security Council calls on ​all parties to respect‍ personnel safety and abide by their obligations​ under this ​agreement.

the statement also demands full implementation of Security‌ Council Resolutions 1701 and 1559. It ⁣welcomes‍ Lebanon’s readiness to‌ demarcate its border with Syria and its efforts to combat ​smuggling activities.
