Kabul Claims Pakistan Attack Killed 3 Afghan Cricket Players Yesterday
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, Kabul has accused Pakistan of continuing attacks on Afghanistan, reporting that three Afghan cricket players were killed in Islamabad’s strikes on Paktika province yesterday.
Last Wednesday, Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed to a temporary ceasefire. Qatari officials invited both sides to Doha to mediate talks aimed at establishing a permanent ceasefire and addressing mutual concerns.
The Afghanistan Cricket Federation stated that three players were killed while returning from a friendly match, with seven others injured in the attacks. The federation also announced it would withdraw from the upcoming tournament scheduled for late November, which was set to include Pakistan.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has not responded to these allegations so far. However, Karachi-based newspaper Dawn reported that Islamabad targeted “terrorist hideouts” inside Afghanistan yesterday. According to Dawn, these “precise strikes” hit illegal group strongholds, killing dozens of militants.
The newspaper claimed these attacks followed recent daring assaults on military facilities in North Waziristan and occurred just two hours after Islamabad and Kabul agreed to extend their two-day ceasefire.
