Human Rights Watch Urges European Union to Try Tel Aviv
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, reports that the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor- which has repeatedly documented Israel’s genocidal acts against Gaza-issued a new statement urging the European Union to hold Israel accountable for demolishing projects financed by Europe in the Gaza Strip.
The human rights organization emphasized that during the genocide in Gaza, Tel Aviv systematically destroyed infrastructure and residential units fully or partially funded by the european Union. This campaign targeted vital systems designed to ensure basic civilian rights, including access to water, sanitation, education, and adequate housing.
According to their statement, an initial assessment team documented damage to desalination plants, hospitals, clinics, health centers, schools, and housing units constructed with EU funding. The EU’s failure to leverage its influence over Tel Aviv means these destructions and tactics of intimidation against civilians risk continuing without any political or legal consequences.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stressed that the EU’s ongoing silence as an observer regarding Tel Aviv’s policies amounts to abdication of its legal, political, and moral responsibilities. The union must launch formal investigations and publish extensive public reports detailing damages inflicted on EU-funded assets in Gaza.
the statement concluded that the EU should demand full and immediate compensation from Tel Aviv for all damages caused to facilities financed by European public funds. It also called on European countries to pursue legal action against Israeli officials involved in ordering or carrying out these demolitions and support international legal processes related to this matter.
