Gaza Developments Awaken Global Conscience
Mehr News Agency, International Desk: The international conference titled “The Future of Gaza in Light of the Trump Plan” took place in mehr Media Group’s meeting hall. Participants included Sheikh Mohammad Al-Muaid, Chairman of the Advisory Board for palestinian Scholars Council in Lebanon; Mansour Barati, Israel researcher; Mohammad Abu Obaid, Al-Alam correspondent in Gaza; Mohammad Bayat, Middle East expert and researcher; Hossein Houshmand, U.S. affairs analyst; and Mohammad Reza Moradi, Director General of International Affairs and Foreign News at Mehr News Agency.
Mohammad bayat said during the session: In recent months, France and Saudi Arabia have been jointly pursuing the issue of recognizing a Palestinian state. This effort culminated in a statement from New York and a vote during the United Nations General assembly’s 80th session. Tho this topic had largely faded into the background over recent years-overshadowed by initiatives like the Abraham Accords-it resurfaced following the Al-Aqsa storm uprising, which can be seen as one of Palestine’s resistance achievements. Recognition of a Palestinian state has now become unavoidable even among far-right groups on the international stage. Emirates and Saudis find themselves unable to remain indifferent toward Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
He added: We are currently on the brink of a situation that could spiral out of control any moment. Iran has been attacked; Doha has faced attacks as well. These events have reshaped security architecture for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries substantially. Meanwhile, humanitarian conditions in Gaza have deteriorated severely. An epidemic of hunger there has sparked global human conscience while applying intense pressure not only on Israeli leaders but also on Arab regimes. the international community questions why Arab rulers-who spend enormous sums on military matters claiming to defend Islam worldwide-fail to protect Palestinian interests even minimally let alone maximally.
The regional expert continued: In these circumstances emerged Donald Trump’s 20-article proposal after meetings with Netanyahu followed by consultations with Arab Islamic leaders. Pakistani officials and some others believe what was discussed behind closed doors differed from what was ultimately released through media channels. voices rising from across Islam expressed support for this peace plan-including Hamas’ political wing endorsing it particularly strongly.
The current conditions are harsh for Gaza’s population deprived even basic living essentials. Continued Israeli occupation threatens notable damage to Palestine’s aspirations-possibly resulting in full annexation of both Gaza Strip and West Bank territories.
Bayat further noted: Ending this humanitarian crisis is vital for Palestinians themselves; one demand they persistently pursue-which is reflected within this plan-involves daily entry permits for 400 trucks delivering humanitarian aid into Gaza Strip.
Sustaining Palestinian governance amid right-wing advocacy for “Greater Israel” represents another crucial advantage secured by Palestinians through these efforts.
