New Speculation by Zionist Media on Yahya Sinwar’s Successor in Gaza

While several names have previously been⁢ suggested as potential successors ⁢too Yahya Sinwar, head of Hamas’s political bureau in ​Gaza, an Israeli media outlet has‍ offered a new speculation on the matter.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, the Israeli daily israel hayom speculated about Yahya Sinwar’s ⁢possible replacement. ‌The report named​ Tawfiq Abu naim as a ​likely‍ candidate to​ lead Hamas’s political bureau⁤ in Gaza. Earlier reports mentioned other figures such as Khalil al-hayya as potential successors; however, Hamas has not officially confirmed any appointments.

The Israeli newspaper⁢ described Tawfiq Abu⁢ Naim as a highly experienced political figure and one of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin’s⁣ disciples, closely aligned with Yahya Sinwar. The article stated‌ that Abu Naim⁤ is well-positioned to lead Hamas in ⁢Gaza.

Tawfiq Abu ‍Naim, 63, was ​born in the Al-Bureij refugee camp and was among the Palestinian prisoners released in⁣ the 2011 Gilad‌ Shalit prisoner exchange deal. He witnessed ‍the 1967 war during his childhood. He studied at the Islamic University of Gaza and earned a bachelor’s degree in Islamic ⁣sciences before⁣ obtaining his ⁢doctorate. It was during this period that he⁣ first met Sinwar.⁣ Alongside Sinwar and Ruhi Mushtahi, he joined Al-Majd-a security apparatus specializing in Hamas ‍intelligence matters.

Under ⁣Sinwar’s leadership, Abu Naim took charge of internal security, police forces, and intelligence agencies. He established close ties with Egyptian intelligence⁤ services-especially with Ahmed Abdelkhalek-the official responsible for Palestinian affairs. In 2017, ⁤Abu Naim survived an assassination attempt by‌ Israeli forces operating inside Gaza.

The report adds that today Abu naim oversees a security apparatus used to suppress individuals suspected of collaborating with Israel.
