Kallas: The Nineteenth Sanctions Package Against Russia Will Not Be the Last
The EUS foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, announced on Monday that the nineteenth sanctions package against Russia would not be the final one as Brussels continues its unfriendly stance toward Moscow, according to webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera.
Kallas emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin must face the consequences of his war against Ukraine. She called for improved security in the Black Sea region and stated that pressuring Ukraine-considered a victim in this conflict-is misguided as it encourages further aggression by the invader. “We want to pressure Russia into ending the war in Ukraine,” she said.
Addressing ongoing war crimes by Israeli forces in Gaza, Kallas refrained from directly condemning Israel but described calls for a ceasefire as facing thier first serious test. “If we do not see real change in Gaza, threat of sanctions against Israel will remain on the table,” she added.
