Russian and U.S. Foreign Ministers Hold Talks
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing RIA Novosti via Mehr News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Marco Rubio.
The statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Lavrov and Rubio discussed potential concrete steps to implement the agreements reached during a recent phone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States. The discussion was described as constructive.
Earlier, Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, said that Ukraine would be a key topic in Lavrov and Rubio’s talks. The bilateral agenda between Russia and the U.S., including economic issues, would also be central in their contact. He added that dialog channels with the United States remain open but no date or location has yet been agreed upon for negotiations addressing bilateral tensions.
