Slovakian Prime Minister Assassination Attempt Suspect Sentenced to 21 Years in Prison
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Reuters via Mehr News Agency, a Slovak court has sentenced an individual who shot and wounded Prime Minister Robert Fico in 2024 to 21 years behind bars.
In May 2024, 72-year-old Juraj Sintolai fired five shots from just over one meter away at Prime Minister fico while he was greeting people in the central Slovak town of Handlova.
Reuters reported that the Special Criminal Court in Banska Bystrica concluded a trial that began in July. The main point of contention was proving the charge of terrorism. the verdict can be appealed at Slovakia’s Supreme Court.
Fico was hit by four bullets, sustaining serious injuries to his abdomen as well as wounds to his pelvis, arm, and leg. He made his first public appearance several months after the attack, in July 2025.
